Fostering

“Fostering dogs is the best choice I’ve made in years. Watching her personality come alive after being so terrified at the shelter has been a beautiful transformation and so fulfilling to know I was part of that”. We love hearing things like this from our dear foster families.

Fostering a dog is like a halfway house for dogs in need. Some dogs who are coming out of a spay or neuter surgery just need a foster home for 4-5 days so they can heal in a dry and quiet environment. Others may need a longer stay and we always work with our fosters to accommodate their needs.

We provide the dog’s food, vet expenses, crates, and dog beds if available and needed. You would provide the dog shelter inside the home, ideally, feed them on a regular schedule, assure they have a clean environment and receive lots of attention and leash walks, or play time in a fenced yard. (If recovering from a surgery, or heart-worm treatment the walks would be short) Some dogs are terrified in a shelter environment and need a quiet place.

Most of the dogs that end up in our care are naturally house trained and want to potty outside. If they are puppies or not well trained, then some extra attention may be needed from you, with training.

We strive to make it a happy experience and can let you speak to another foster before you make a commitment. If you have other pets in the home, they all must be up to date on their shots and spayed or neutered, before fostering with us.
