Butts Mutts is an all volunteer, foster based DOG rescue in Jackson, GA, Butts County. Our mission is to reduce pet overpopulation which leads to euthanasia at animal control facilities. We partner with local vets and low cost spay/neuter organizations to sterilize both community pets and the homeless pets of Butts County. We are completely donation based, so our small group of volunteers gets no compensation.

Fostering

Fostering is a huge part of our mission! We strive to place the emotionally shut down dogs, post surgery dogs, and dogs who just need a break or extra attention into a home for a weekend or even longer if it is a good fit. Our fosters are the backbone of our success! To explore fostering with Butts Mutts, please clickHERE! We provide all vet expenses, food and other supplies for our fosters. We expect fosters to provide shelter, socialization, train as needed, feed on a regular schedule, provide daily exercise/walks, take to vet appointments, and help them feel safe and comfortable inside a home. If you are fostering a dog longer term, we will cover boarding fees or arrange another foster, when you have a planned vacation or need a break!

Adopting

If you are ready to adopt the love of your life, please click HERE, to see our truly fabulous adoptable dogs! All are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, tested and treated for intestinal parasites, tested and treated for heart worms (if positive), given flea/tick and heart worm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption.

Our adoption fees vary, depending on the investment we have in the dog you are wanting to adopt. However we give careful consideration to each applicant and the goal is to place the homeless pet into the best home possible.

Volunteering

If you are looking for hands-on experience working with animals in a shelter environment, we highly recommend volunteering with Butts County Animal Services. Please contact them for additional information on how you can help make a difference in a shelter dogs day. They are the local facility that houses many of the dogs we eventually pull into our rescue, and they are always in need of passionate volunteers to help improve the lives of the animals in their care. Butts County Animal Services is located at 158 Bibb Station Rd, Jackson, GA 30233.

To learn more about their requirements and to submit an application, please contact Butts County Animal Services at animalcontrol@buttscounty.org or 770-775-8011.

We actively participate in local events to raise awareness about our homeless pets and promote responsible pet ownership.

Our BIG goal is to spay and neuter ALL unfixed dogs in Butts County. Through our special low-cost spay/neuter program, we offer this service to any county resident to help reduce the number of strays and unwanted dogs—ultimately easing the overcrowding at our local shelter.

Together, we can make a lasting difference for the dogs (and people!) of Butts County.
